Sinus & Allergy Treatment Jacksonville

Allergy Testing and Treatment Specialist

More than 50 million Americans suffer from sinus & allergy symptoms. Typical symptoms include stuffy nose, sneezing, runny nose, itching, post-nasal drip, and watery eyes. Since allergy symptoms typically result in inflammation in the nose, we refer to the problem as Rhinitis (Inflammation of the nose). Allergic rhinitis is the 6th most common illness in the United States and the most common illness in children. People who suffer with allergies experience a significant decrease in their quality of life. In particular, people who have nasal congestion have trouble sleeping and experience decreased work/school performance, irritability, fatigue, and memory loss.

Having trouble with your sinuses?

Balloon sinuplasty is a less invasive treatment option that has been clinically proven to be a safe and effective way to restore proper sinus function and improve the quality of your life. Balloon sinuplasty is a FDA approved technology that uses a small, flexible, balloon catheter to gently open blocked sinus passages and restore normal sinus drainage.

What is Sinusitis?

Sinusitis is inflammation of the paranasal sinuses caused by infection, allergy, or autoimmune problems. Sinus infections can be caused by a virus, bacteria, or fungus. Typical symptoms include colored nasal discharge, facial pressure or pain over the involved sinus, nasal congestion, fever, fatigue, changes in taste or smell, aching teeth, a general feeling of "not feeling well," and impairment of quality of life. Acute sinus infections are typically treated with antibiotics and nasal decongestant therapy. Chronic sinusitis occurs when the sinuses become so inflamed they no longer drain properly. Patients with chronic sinusitis typically have persistent or recurrent symptoms.

If you have been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis and are not responding to medical treatment, you may need sinus surgery. When compared to traditional sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty has less bleeding, a faster recovery time (many people return to normal activity within 24 hours), and it can be used in conjunction with other treatment modalities.
